The importance of domestic energy-use goals

Green Nova Scotia First

Green Nova Scotia First (GNSF) is a civil society organization that supports Nova Scotia's Green Energy ambitions. The GNSF advocates for first reducing greenhouse gas emissions locally with minimal negative impact on the environment, biodiversity, and communities. While wholly supporting the critical importance of achieving the province’s domestic energy-use goals, the group is fiercely concerned about the support and commitment of the Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Governments towards projects that employ wind power for the export of hydrogen and ammonia instead of focusing on the province’s reliance on fossil fuels.

The organization aims to be the go-to resource hub to help the public make informed opinions and decisions regarding mega wind energy projects and hydrogen/ammonia production initiatives in Nova Scotia.

Credibility and approachability are key. The logotype’s elements explicitly reference Nova Scotia’s provincial flag: a green saltire (referencing the Scottish Cross of St. Andrew) and an exclamation point to communicate a sense of urgency (replacing the province’s heraldic symbol.) Intended to be simple and symbolic, the elements are meant to be repurposed when communicating themes.
